Proposal

For my measurement project I am interested in exploring the amount of energy put into food production. I am in the process of starting a garden to grow my own food because I know industrial agriculture is quite unsustainable, but would be interested in doing more of a deep dive into the energy use of this industry.

Possible direct measurements: energy in calories of food purchased and percentage disposed of, energy needed to grow plants at home, energy for foraging

Contextual Statistics: Energy needed to grow food at an industrial scale and transport it to grocery stores (trace route of food purchased)
