Labs: Week 10

I was not successful in making any of the motors in these three labs work. My wiring seemed correct, but once I uploaded the code nothing happened. I spoke with a couple of other students who also were unable to successfully make their motors run. In the case of the stepper motor after I plugged it in I stepped away briefly. When I came back and picked up the motor it was HOT to the touch. There was clearly electrical energy running to the motor, it just wasn’t being converted to mechanical energy properly.

I ended up trying the lab again during my shop shift because the shop got a batch of new gear motors. This time they worked perfectly. I had semi wondered if the motor I had before simply didn’t work, as the shop had many broken ones already, and that seems to be the case. The few other people that I had spoken to that were also having problems were also using the older shop motors. I still did not have any success getting the stepper motor to work.
